Use wool pellets to keep your houseplants healthy this winter! Wool helps regulate water levels in potting soil to prevent over and underwatering, all while adding a little natural fertilizer! (Other wool pellets have been tested and have an analysis of 9-0-2 NPK) These also work to keep slugs off your outdoor plants when sprinkled in a layer around the base of your plant. 
In larger outdoor gardens, wool pellets have been found to aerate the soil, regulate moisture levels, and grow healthier plants! The wool pelleting process kills weed seeds and makes a finer material that won't gum up the tiller. Although I (and many others) have enjoyed full fleeces on my no-till garden in the past, I prefer these pellets for their versatility, moisture regulation, and convenience.
