Flock matron and midwife, Sarai lives in our hearts rent-free. Full of sass and attitude, this diminutive Shetland is simultaneously the independent princess of the flock and the guardian mother of all lambs. Fences are mere suggestions, but she takes care not to teach the others her tricks... mostly she just wants a private pasture for her own pleasure 😏
Sarai was one of our OG sheep and she's the oldest matriarch here. When another ewe is having a difficult labor or more lambs than usual, Sarai steps in to keep track of all the babies and get them dry asap. Her lambs grow quickly and healthily, and this tiny lil powerhouse of a ewe also produces up to a quart of milk in a day to share with us. She has a lambing record of 1-2-3-3, and this year her Finnsheep X Shetland daughter "Cookie" is staying here with her. They have such a sweet, strong mother-daughter bond. We're looking forward to watching Sarai show Cookie the ropes of motherhood this spring 💞
Sarai has also earned a few nicknames over the years, and if we're having a conversation you will likely hear her referred to as "Ee-boo" 😅 She's a pet who will be staying here into retirement 🥰
